In 2003 we were invited to cook at the Jack Danels Invitational World Barbecue Competition and had a great time both socialising with the other teams, making lifelong friends and learning lots more about BBQ. We were placed 32nd overall out of 67 teams and were thrilled at this result. When we were invited to return and cook again in the 2004 contest, we didn't hesitate to say yes; so after lots of practice at home we set out again.
The rest is history – in 2004 we became the first ever non-American Team to win the Jack Daniels Invitational World Barbeque Championships, this Invitation Only contest is competed in by US State Champion BBQ Teams and a variety of International teams including Australia, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, Mexico, Jamaica amongst others. We secured the much-coveted Jack Daniels Grand Champion Trophy as well as the International Champion Trophy to the amazement of our fellow contestants. This competition is viewed as being the ‘Super-bowl’ of the American Barbeque circuit and the English Team won it !!!
Having become total converts to the American “smoker” method of barbequing, The American BBQ Company has been appointed as sole distributors for two leading American brands of barbeque: Cookshack and Traeger. We distribute and sell the barbeques, accessories and also the wood pellets which are used to give the unique “smoke” flavour – a flavour which is well known to our American cousins, but relatively untried - and increasingly being favoured - here in the UK.
